Product Development
TSC develops existing products to meet customer or SABS qualification. Development will include pH adjustments, viscosity balancing, emulsification, preservation and other the correction of other physical and chemical parameters required to render the product quality approved.
Formulae Development
TSC can develop new formulation to bring into being a completely unique product or a product to meet the clients market need. Development or revision of exiting formulation is also par t and parcel or reformulation. N.B. Very important to note is that the TSC does not sell formulations
Product Evaluation and Quality Tests
TSC provides specialized testing services to analyse and evaluate existing products. The analysis or evaluation is done in the well-equipped laboratory.
Product Analysis
TSC conduct both routine and non-routine specialty inorganic and organic analysis and testing. The chemists and analytical technicians have the experience to handle the most demanding situations and are able to solve complex problems in support of our customers. The laboratories at the Chemistry Department are housing sophisticated instruments. The instruments are used for both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Process Design
TSC through Tshwane University of Technology (Soshanguve Campus) and Consulting Engineers companies can design the client a new process for manufacturing a product or design a turnkey process for supplementing the existing major process.
Metrology
The new Mathematics department is proving the following services.
Raw Materials Pre-Weigh
An overdose or under dose of raw materials might affect the quality of the final product. A very accurate measuring and pre-weigh technique is important to ensure that the raw materials are properly weighed. The TSC is in a position to assist with the development of weighing techniques.
Batch up and down scaling
Customers at times orders different quantities of products, different from the usual batch size the client is for used to manufacturing. In this instance the batch size needs to be either down scaled or up scaled. The TSC will offer the best way of up scaling or down scaling your batch within a few minutes of time without affecting the product quality.
Batch Adjustments
A reject batch or a quality-affected batch cost the business a lot of money therefore it cannot be dump. The batch needs to be reworked. In the case where a certain raw material was overdosed or under dosed the batch can be adjusted through the application of mathematical expressions.
Flushing
It is normal that raw materials that are very viscous leave a thick layer on the film of the container or carrier. The thick layer left is costly and important for the formulation of the final product. TSC can help in estimating the amount of flushing water to use. The amount of water will be a portion of the product formulation.
Filling
This component of the service is concerned with the use of scales, check weights and load cells in filling the products into containers. It will provide assistance in tarring and ensuring that consistent filling levels are attained.
Products
Cosmetics Technology Hair products and skin protection products are developed for SME's in the cosmetics business. Essential Oils Technology Solvent extraction and pressing methods are used to extract essential oils from natural resources. Dyes making Technology (new) Different beverage dye, petroleum dye and detergent dyes are developed for dissemination to SME's. Perfume Making Technology (new) Technologies for Perfumes used in detergents and cosmetics are under development for dissemination to SME's.
